This report explores the experiences of accessing NHS health services in South West London for those who do not speak English as a first language. This work builds on insights from our 2025 spring engagement fund, where language barriers were identified as a key issue in accessing health and care services.

Healthwatch Kingston's 5-year review of engagement data is helping to identify trends in health and social care inequalities in the Borough.

The NHS Race and Health Observatory commissioned this research, delivered by Centre for Mental Health and Coffee Afrik CIC, to explore the nature of trauma for racialised communities, the experiences people have with public services, and the changes required to deliver trauma-informed, culturally grounded and anti-racist care.

This report details the insights collected by the NHS South West London engagement team as part of the outreach with people living in temporary accommodation or experiencing homelessness in Merton. This work aimed to understand experiences of local health and care services.

Dismantling racism and advancing equity cannot be done in isolation or solely from boardrooms. This work demanded a different approach - one rooted in trust, transparency, and community leadership. That’s why we partnered with both statutory bodies and the vibrant Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector.

The findings from this report offer valuable insights for future cross-sector partnerships that seek to address health inequalities and improve population wellbeing, as well as the funders and organisations supporting them.

Local Disabled adults told us about the obstacles to participating in day-to-day life that they experience.

Inclusion and amplifying the voices of people with a learning disability is a key priority for the work of Healthwatch Kingston and the All Age Learning Disability Board.

This project focusses on engaging Croydon’s Afro-Caribbean community about how to improve diabetes care.
