On Wednesday 18 March 2026, the NHS in South West London brought together over 70 community leaders from South West London’s voluntary, community and social organisations, alongside clinical and ICB colleagues, to discuss the future of health needs and NHS services across our six boroughs.

This report explores the experiences of accessing NHS health services in South West London for those who do not speak English as a first language. This work builds on insights from our 2025 spring engagement fund, where language barriers were identified as a key issue in accessing health and care services.

The purpose of this engagement was to understand what people in Richmond think works well about current sleep apnoea services; their views on the proposal to bring Richmond sleep apnoea care in line with the rest of South West London and its impact; and what could help patients transfer to St George’s if this were to go ahead.

The purpose of this engagement exercise was to understand people’s experiences of using crisis cafes in South West London. It provided several ways for people to share their views - an online survey (252 responses); semi-structured interviews online or on the phone and in person at crisis cafes (c21 in-depth conversations).

These reports detail the insight from people and communities to inform the NHS South West London Clinically-Led Strategic Plan. This plan is an opportunity to design a sustainable, effective health and care system that meets the needs of our communities now and in the future.

The SWL Spring Grants 2025 engagement programme aimed to capture qualitative feedback from underserved and marginalised communities targeting Core20 populations, with a specific local focus across South West London on Digital and Health.
