Throughout July and August 2022 we held a series of menopause workshops and seminars for health and care staff across South West London, covering topics and issues like medication, fibroids, mental health, coping techniques and much more. All of these events were recorded, so if you couldn’t make any of the sessions, you can watch the videos below.
Fibroids and hysterectomy induced menopause
Obstetrician Gynaecologist Dr Folakemi Edun presents an interactive talk on fibroids outlining what fibroids are, fibroids prevalence, risk factors, the natural history of fibroids, symptoms, complications that can arise, investigations and treatments.
Management and menopause
Julie Dennis partners with organisations across the UK to introduce menopause as an inclusive topic, educate leaders and improve the experience of people working through menopause.
Medicine and menopause
We all respond differently to medication. Fortunately there is a wide range available to treat the effects of menopause. Obstetrician Gynaecologist Dr Folakemi Edun is passionate about menopause with a vast amount of expertise in the subject. Dr Edun hosted this seminar to give health and care staff from across South West London the opportunity to learn and ask questions about treatments specific to them.
Men and menopause
Julie Dennis facilitated an interactive session for men to improve their knowledge and provide them with the opportunity to discuss their thoughts about menopause and how it may already be impacting them at home or work.
Mental health and menopause
Counsellor Teresa Mulvena deep dives into the mental health effects of menopause, coping techniques as well as signposting to useful resources available.
Nutrition and menopause
Many women going through menopause can be quite apprehensive about medication. Fortunately medication is not the only way to alleviate the symptoms of menopause, this can also be done through nutrition and physical activity. Menopause can also have a huge effect on appetite, metabolism and weight (gain and loss). This workshop will assist you in managing your weight and metabolism through nutrition to achieve/maintain a healthy weight. This face to face workshop was delivered by Maggie Ford, Health and Wellbeing Advisor at St George’s University Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust and an Associate Registered Nutritionist.
