The event, being held in partnership between South West London ICS, Kingston Hospital and Kingston Carers’ Network, will feature an introduction from Debbie Hustings, England’s Unpaid Carers Lead, and stalls held by local organisations who will be able to advise carers about how they can look after their own health, plan for the future and access relevant benefit support. They will also be able to have a basic health check.
Diane White, Chief Executive of Kingston Carers’ Network said: “All too often we see those that look after someone who could not manage without their support putting themselves at the bottom of the list. We know that caring for someone takes an awful lot of energy and commitment and this event is to help take pressure off and offer support where we can.”

The event is being organised by New Malden & Worcester Park PCN. Kingston GP, Nick Merrifield, added: “We are hoping as many people come along as possible on the evening, we know if can be hard for people with this sort of responsibility to make time for themselves, but this event is aimed at making that easier and ensuring that they are in the best health they can be.”
Free goody bags and dinner will be available on the evening and there will also be people on hand to support the individual that is cared for, giving people the chance to chat and find out more.
