This new move comes after the Kingston Hospital pharmacy team successfully obtained two Health Education England (HEE) grants to support and develop its workforce.
Judith Foy, Chief pharmacist at Kingston Hospital, explained: “The grants have given us this opportunity to support cross sector training, providing a more flexible and adaptive workforce. The training programme will also foster closer working relationships with our GP colleagues in the community as well as offering our trainees the invaluable skills that come from working in different environments with the associated skills needed for both.”
Developing this partnership between primary and secondary care means that we can all better support our patients”
The pharmacy team will be collaborating with Richmond General Practice Alliance (RGPA) on these training programmes. Richmond GP, Nick Grundy, said: “Developing this partnership between primary and secondary care means that we can all better support our patients, making sure that management of their medicine throughout different care settings is consistent.”
