The report presents findings from an announced Enter and View visit to Rosclare Residential Home, conducted between 30 May and 05 July 2024, as part of a pre-pilot programme initiated by Healthwatch Kingston in collaboration with the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and the Kingston Care Governance Board.
The visit focused on three key areas: the physical environment, mealtime experiences, and the range and quality of resident activities. Detailed observations were made regarding building accessibility, communal spaces, and the dining area, while resident and relative feedback highlighted both positive aspects and areas for improvement. Although residents generally appeared happy and well cared for in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, the report identifies opportunities to improve disabled access, signage, and overall communication in communal areas. Recommendations also include refining mealtime processes—such as introducing staggered meal timings and enhancing the vegetarian menu—and expanding meaningful activities tailored to residents’ varying needs, particularly for those with dementia.
These insights aim to support ongoing improvements in care provision and safeguard the wellbeing of residents, ensuring that the service continues to meet both regulatory standards and the personal needs of its diverse resident community.
