Healthwatch Croydon surveyed patients on specialist eye care waiting times, trust in opticians, service accessibility, and needed improvements.
Healthwatch Croydon was commissioned by Healthwatch England to take part in a wider study, exploring the experiences of residents interacting with ophthalmology services in Croydon. The study revealed an overall positive rating for services at Moorfield’s eyes services located at Croydon University Hospital. Participants rating trust highly in relation to opticians who had referred residents to Moorfields, however there was a mixed review of specialists who were monitoring or treating patients. Patients cited low barriers to access in terms of cost-based services with the greatest concern being waiting times.
