The Healthwatch Sutton Annual Report 2022-23 outlines the organization’s efforts to enhance health and social care in Sutton. Chair Barbara McIntosh discusses post-pandemic challenges, including issues with GP services and NHS dentists, and the introduction of the South West London Integrated Care System.
The report highlights completed projects on dentistry, Long Covid, and the health impacts of the rising cost of living.
Healthwatch Sutton’s mission is to ensure people’s experiences improve care. In 2022-23, they engaged with 1,075 people, published reports on dentistry and Long Covid, and conducted quality assurance visits to care homes.
They also supported patients at GP practices through Patient Participation Groups and the Patient Reference Group.
The report details their work across South West London, including the role of the Integrated Care System and the employment of an Executive Officer to ensure patients’ voices are heard.
It also highlights the impact of the cost of living on health and the mental wellbeing of primary school pupils.
